It’s as simple as having a chat

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’ve been holding painful experiences on your own for a long time. You might not be sure where to start, or even how to put things into words — and that’s completely okay. I offer a calm, safe space where you can come just as you are, and we can begin from there, together.

Welcome to
Julie Lisle Counselling and Psychotherapy

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been carrying difficult experiences on your own for a long time. I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can begin to talk at your own pace, without pressure or judgement.

There is no couch!

I’m known for being friendly, down to earth, and approachable. Therapy with me is not about sitting in silence or feeling analysed — it’s about building a genuine, trusting connection where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself.

While I take your experiences seriously, I also believe that gentle humour can have an important place in therapy. When appropriate, it can help ease tension, create warmth, and remind us that even alongside pain, there is still room for lightness and humanity.

I work at your pace, always guided by what feels right for you. Whether you want to talk openly, take things slowly, or are unsure where to begin, that’s completely okay.

What to expect

  • A safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space.
  • Support with processing trauma in a way that feels manageable.
  • Understanding and compassion.
  • Help in releasing heavy feelings that have been weighing you down.
  • A steady, supportive relationship where you feel heard and respected.

Are we a good fit?

I offer a free initial consultation to help you decide if counselling with me is right for you.

Choose between phone and online sessions or a blend of both.

Sessions cost  £60 for 1 hour.

Person-centred

The person-centred approach is a gentle, supportive way of working that puts you in control of your own process. I won’t tell you what to do or give advice, but will listen carefully and help you explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.

By offering a warm, accepting, and honest space, this approach helps you feel heard and understood. Over time, this can help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, build confidence, and find your own way forward.

Who am I ?

Julie Lisle, FdA, BA (Hons), MBACP

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, I hold Degrees in Psychotherapy and Counselling from the University of Warwick, as well as qualifications in providing online and telephone counselling, I have specialist training in providing trauma informed counselling for the survivors of trauma, sexual abuse and sexual violence.

Ready to get started?

Let me help you

I offer general counselling for feelings of anxiety, low self-worth and stress but also specialise in supporting survivors of rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, and domestic violence, I am also experienced in work related issues.

All of these experiences can leave deep and lasting effects, often bringing feelings of guilt, shame, fear, or self-doubt. Many of the people I work with have carried these feelings quietly for years. If that’s true for you, I want you to know that you don’t have to hold them on your own anymore — you’ve carried them for long enough.
